Friedrich Mücke, born 1981 in West Berlin, attended actor’s training at Berlin’s Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch from 2003 to 2007 and became a cast member of Munich’s Volkstheater immediately after his graduation from drama school. At Volkstheater, he performed in productions of "Peer Gynt" and "Don Karlos" ("Don Carlos"), among other plays, and played the title role in a production of "Michael Kohlhaas". Furthermore, Mücke performed in the production of "Jedermann" at Salzburg Festival and in a production of "Glaube, Liebe, Hoffnung" at Berlin’s Deutsches Theater. In 2009, Friedrich Mücke made his debut on the movie screen with a memorable performance in a supporting role in Thomas Kronthaler’s film "Schreibe mir – Postkarten nach Copacabana" ("Write Me – Postcards to Copacabana").

For his leading role in the funny road movie "Friendship!" (2009) about two East Germans who embark on a trip through the United States without having any money after the fall of the Berlin Wall,Mücke won the Bavarian Film Award as Best Newcomer. 2010 he played Walter Gropius in Percy and Felix Adlon’s film "Mahler auf der Couch", a biopic about the artist Gustav Mahler.

After a supporting role in Jochen Alexander Freydank's "Heimatfront" (2011), part of the TV-series "Tatort", in the spring of 2012 two new films with Mücke opened in German cinemas: Oliver Ziegenbalk's adaptation of the eponymous novel "Russendisko" and Maggie Peren's drama about refugees "Die Farbe des Ozeans" ("Color of the Oceans").

The same year he appeared in the period drama "Ludwig II", directed by Marie Noelle and Peter Sehr. In 2012, he starred opposite Ken Duken in the TV series "Add a Friend". Mücke went on to play a student who is confronted with the aftermath of a gun rampage in the drama "Staudamm", which premiered at the 2013 Max-Ophüls-Preis Festival. After a supporting role in "Der Geschmack von Apfelkernen" ("The Taste of Apple Seeds", 2013), he became the new police detective in the Erfurt edition of the popular "Tatort" TV series but resigned again after only two episodes. In early 2014, Mücke was seen as a lovesick gynaecologist in the tragicomedy "Bocksprünge" and as the careless brother of Matthias Schweighöfer's character in the comedy "Vaterfreuden".

After appearing in the ensemble comedy "Alles ist Liebe", Mücke became the lead of the 2015 TV miniseries "Weinberg". This role and his performance as a police officer in the TV thriller "Mordkommission Berlin Eins" (2015) got him a nomination for Best Actor at the German Television Awards. He also got very positive reviews for his turn in Friedemann Fromm's "Unter der Haut" (2015, TV).

After starring opposite Karoline Herfurth and Nora Tschirner in the romantic comedy "SMS für dich" (2016), Mücke played the villain in the children's film "Robbi, Tobbi und das Fliewatüüt" ("Robby & Toby's Fantastic Voyager", 2016).

He had another strong role in Dominik Graf's TV thriller "Am Abend aller Tage" (2016) as a fraudulent art historian. In the four-parter "Bruder: Schwarze Macht" (2017), about the Islamist radicalization of a young German Turk, Mücke played a rough policeman; Michael Herbig cast him in his movie "Ballon" (2018) in a leading role as the famous GDR refugee Peter Strelzyk. Lighter fare was the comedy "Wie gut ist deine Beziehung? (2019), with Mücke and Julia Koschitz as a long-time couple, who want to bring new momentum into their relationship.
