Summary

Television adaptation of the classic 1958 film based on Friedrich Dürrenmatt's novel "The Pledge": When the body of a young girl is found in the woods, traveling salesman Bock becomes the prime suspect. Under intense pressure from the state criminal police, he falsely confesses to the murder, only to be shot dead by the girl's father in an act of vigilante justice while being transported into custody. But Detective Matthäus is convinced that Bock was not the real killer and continues the investigation on his own. To lure the murderer into the open, he uses another young girl as bait – placing her life in grave danger.
