Berlinale 2026: Yellow Letters

İlker Çatak's last film, "The Teachers' Lounge", received numerous awards and an Oscar nomination for Best International Feature Film. Now his new work is celebrating its premiere in competition at the Berlinale: "Yellow Letters" is set in Turkey, his parents' country of origin, and is about a successful couple from Ankara's theater scene who suddenly find themselves targeted by the judiciary because they were too critical of the government. The result: state arbitrariness and reprisals. Soon, the two must decide how far they are willing to go with their convictions in order not to jeopardize their livelihood... It can be assumed that İlker Çatak will not tell this realistic story about a repressive system, abuse of power, and freedom of art in a sensationalist way, but with intelligence and sensitivity. The two Turkish stars Özgü Namal and Tansu Biçer play the leading roles, yet the film wasn't shot in Turkey but in Hamburg, presumably because of the critical subject matter. The premiere of "Yellow Letters" will take place on February 13 at the Berlinale Palast, followed by four more screenings in different cinemas. We are looking forward to it and wish the team much success with the jury.

Fünf große internationale Projekte entstehen mit bayerischer Beteiligung: Komplizen Film, Elation Pictures und Rabbit Track Pictures produzieren die Theateradaption "Foxfinder" mit Autorin und Regisseurin Aoife McArdle. FFA legt Kinobilanz vor: Gutes Kinojahr 2025 dank deutscher Filme

Mit 91,9 Mio. verkauften Tickets und 924 Mio. Euro Umsatz war das Kinojahr 2025 stärker als 2024. Der deutsche Marktanteil liegt bei 27,4 Prozent und damit 6,8 Prozentpunkte über dem des Vorjahrs.
