In "Die drei ??? – Toteninsel", the three cult teenage detectives "The three ???" take on a case that fans have cherished since 2001, when it was the 100th investigation of the long-running German audio drama series. Now, 25 years later, the story makes its way to the big screen as a gripping cinematic adventure. The summer holidays have just begun, but instead of heading out on a long-planned road trip, the three friends are pulled into a new mystery by a strange phone call. Their trail leads them to the volcanic island of Makatao, also known as Dead Island, where an ancient people are said to be buried and a curse threatens anyone who sets foot on the island. Justus Jonas (Julius Weckauf), Peter Shaw (Nevio Wendt) and Bob Andrews (Levi Brandl) would not be the renowned young sleuths they are if they did not confront the secret society Sphinx, a mysterious archaeology professor and his ally Olin, and once again unravel a complex puzzle. Following the success of "Die drei ??? – Erbe des Drachen" and "Die drei ??? und der Karpatenhund", director Tim Dünschede brings one of the most popular stories from the audio series to the screen in a contemporary, suspenseful cinematic adaptation. Alongside the young leads, Jördis Triebel returns as Aunt Mathilda and Florian Lukas as Uncle Titus.
