Es muß nicht immer Kaviar sein

BR Deutschland Frankreich 1961 Spielfilm

Operation Caviar

In order to deliver a statement, Thomas Lieven, an assistant of a London Bank, is sent to Berlin by his boss only days before the outbreak of World War II. But this is only the beginning of a turbulent spy and mix-up comedy: Shortly after arriving in Germany, Thomas is forced to cooperate with the German counter-intelligence and the Gestapo and is sent to Paris with a forged French passport. It seems as if banker Thomas who is completely baffled by the situation had been taking far more controversial papers to Berlin than his boss had initially told him. Back in London, Thomas wants to hold his boss to account but is already expected by secret service agents who send the would-be French double agent back to Paris. Back in Paris, Thomas meets the attractive jewel thief Françoise who only means more trouble for the unmeant spy.

Sequel: Diesmal muß es Kaviar sein (1961)
