Biography

Constantin Lieb, born in 1987 in Lichtenfels, Upper Franconia, first studied philosophy, German literature and applied literature in Berlin. In 2008 he was one of the founders and editors of the cinephile online magazine cine-fils.com. In addition, he gained practical experience as a production assistant and associate producer on several short films. Lieb was also the editor of Gerhard Falkner's poetry collection "Pergamon Poems" (2012).

In 2014/2015 he was a scholarship holder at the Drehbuchwerkstatt München. Afterwards he began working as a freelance author. Together with Detlev Buck and Cüneyt Kaya, he wrote the screenplay for the Berlin gangster film "Asphaltgorillas" ("Asphalt Gorillas", 2018), with Simon X. Rost he wrote the script for the TV crook comedy "Alte Bande" (2019) with Mario Adorf, Tilo Prückner and Hermann Beyer. In 2019 Lieb was one of the authors of Dominik Moll's series "Eden", which told stories of the European refugee crisis. At the Grimme Prize 2020, the team received a special award "for the concept of a European narrative".

In collaboration with Dominik Graf, Constantin Lieb adapted Erich Kästner's novel "Fabian oder Der Gang vor die Hunde" ("Fabian - Going to the Dogs") for the big screen. The film premiered in competition at the Berlinale 2021 and received rave reviews. At the 2021 German Film Awards, Lieb (with Graf) received a nomination for Best Screenplay.

In addition to his work as an author, Lieb runs the communications agency art-beats.de together with Felix von Boehm.
