Eighteen year old Willi fights his way through life by committing petty crimes in a Hamburg neighborhood. Fleeing from police custody, he encounters a number of people. While at first seeming to be his saviors in his attempt to escape his difficult situation, they soon turn out to be self-complacent exploiters of this disorientated young man. At first Willi falls into the grips of a pimp, who sends him out on the streets as a male prostitute for gays. A journalist, who draws him into a ever more hopeless re-socialization project, in the end does so only because he wants to give his own frustrating life some meaning. Falling in love with a young girl, who is apparently in an even dire position than himself, Willi sets himself the goal of “rescuing“ her – by all means. Yet, it doesn’t take long before his own past catches up with him.
