In his first adventure on the movie screen, Horst Schlämmer, the impertinent contributing editor of "Grevenbroicher Tagblatt" played by cult comedian Hape Kerkeling, is looking for new challenges – and tries his luck in politics. His goal is to take over the office of Federal Chancellor. For this purpose, he founds HSP, the "Host Schlämmer Partei". Together with his intern Ulle, he starts an aggressive election campaign. Over the course of his campaign he not only meets a woman with an "aspiration to higher things" but also has to flee from the police. But finally, Schlämmer succeeds with his incredible endeavor: HSP is admitted to run in the Bundestag elections.
