Summary
Hape Kerkeling's cult character Horst Schlämmer is back. The deputy editor-in-chief of the Grevenbroicher Tagblatt observes that the national mood is at an all-time low. Determined to find out what truly makes people happy today, he sets off on a journey across Germany, from the deepest South to the North Sea coast - by hitchhiking, aboard a shrimp trawler, or on rail replacement buses. He asks the hard-hitting questions he's known for, talking to passers-by, experts, and well-known personalities. His mission to bring smiles back to people's faces leads him into a wide range of everyday situations and encounters that are sometimes quirky, sometimes surprisingly candid. Despite setbacks, Schlämmer remains steadfast in his quest, undaunted as he tries to capture a snapshot of the current spirit of the German people.
