Irren ist männlich

Deutschland 1995/1996 Spielfilm

Doubting Thomas

One can really envy Thomas Neumann. The highly successful lawyer is married to an enchanting woman called Bettina and has two wonderful children Leo and Gina. He spends some of his free-time with his young mistress who accepts his marriage and never speaks about divorce.

The only thing she desires from him is a child, something that Thomas is not aware of. However, she fails to become pregnant despite enthusiastic exercises of wild passion. Her doctor doesn′t see that there is anything biologically wrong with her. So, Susanne asks Thomas to take a fertility test. As a father of two children he calmly lets the procedure just wash over him. Consequently, the doctor′s diagnosis throws him all the more off kilter. The doctor informs him that a mumps infection he had as a teenager resulted him in becoming sterile. Thomas is outraged and reminds him of his two children. The doctor smiles. "You may be the children′s legal father, but you certainly aren′t the biological one". For Thomas Neumann, a frantic search now begins for the real father of his children.
