Biography

Till Endemann, born in Hamburg on 23 February 1976, completed internships at the regional broadcasters NDR and Studio Hamburg after graduating from high school and began studying directing at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg in 1997. In 2002 he presented his graduation film "Rückkehr in den Dschungel", which premiered at the Munich Documentary Film Festival. His feature film debut "Mondlandung" ("Moon Landing") was shown in competition at the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival in Saarbrücken in 2004, as was his highly acclaimed second feature film "Das Lächeln der Tiefseefische" ("Smile of the Monsterfish", 2005).

After the ensemble drama "Kometen" (2005), Endemann wrote and directed the television movie "Flug in die Nacht - Das Unglück von Überlingen", for which he was awarded the Screenplay Prize at the Baden-Baden Television Film Festival 2009. At the Bavarian Television Award 2010, he received a special prize for directing this film. At the end of 2010, his tragicomedy "Vater Morgana" starring Christian Ulmen and Michael Gwisdek was released in German cinemas.

In the following years, Endemann worked as a director exclusively for television. In doing so, he showed a remarkable range. He shot the film biography "Carl & Bertha" (2011), about the automobile pioneer Carl Benz and his wife Bertha, the Afghan war drama "Auslandseinsatz" (2012), the judicial drama "Der Fall Harry Wörz" (2013), two episodes of the highly popular "Tatort" series (2014), the witness protection thriller "Das Programm" (2016), the social drama "So auf Erden" (2017), which deals with Catholic faith and homosexuality, the generational portrait "Wir sind doch Schwestern" (2018) and the intimate psychological thriller "Im Schatten der Angst" (2019), which won the Media Culture Award at the Ludwigshafen Festival of German Film. The other films were also highly praised by critics.

In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Till Endemann also began working regularly as a dubbing artist for film and television in 2009. Among others, he lent his voice to James Marsden (e.g. "The Butler", US 2013), John Krasinski (e.g. "A Quiet Place", US 2018), Timothy Olyphant ("Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", US 2019) and Martin Henderson in the series "Virgin River" (US 2019-2021).

In 2020, filming was scheduled to take place on Endemann's next feature production, the children's film "Lucy ist jetzt Gangster" ("Lucy Wanted"). However, due to the Corona pandemic, filming had to be postponed until April 2021. Almost at the same time, his highly acclaimed television movie "Das Versprechen" was broadcast, a social drama about an eleven-year-old boy who tries to help both his depressive father and an auto-aggressive friend.
