The Flying Classroom

First film adaptation of the classic children's book by Erich Kästner. The high school class of a boarding school wants to rehearse a play, "Das fliegende Klassenzimmer" ("The Flying Classroom"), for the Christmas party. At the same time, however, they have to settle a feud with the students of a secondary school in the same town. One day, the boys discover that the quirky but lovable outsider "Non-Smoker", who often gives them good advice, is not only a former doctor, but also the long-lost childhood friend of their popular class teacher, Dr. Johannes Böck, known as Justus. "Non-Smoker" - he's called that because he lives in an abandoned non-smoking railroad car - became a dropout, a bitter loner, through a series of strokes of fate. So the students have another task to deal with besides the play and the private feud. And wouldn't the nice nurse at the boarding school be a good fit for a doctor?
