The Party - Nature Morte

Summary

After years of a happy relationship, the yuppie couple Queenie and Burrsie find themselves in a dire situation. One morning, upon waking up, they realize they have nothing left to say to each other and now downright despise one another. Queenie decides to throw a party where the two humiliate each other: While Burrsie gets completely drunk, Queenie seduces an attractive Frenchman named Black. The drama of the night unfolds as the film—shot in black and white—highlights the various (mostly unbearable) party guests in vignette-like sequences, but repeatedly returns to Queenie and Burrsie.
