Summary
A two-part television movie based on the novel "Unruhe um einen Friedfertigen" by Oskar Maria Graf. The political and social conflicts of the Weimar Republic and the rise of National Socialism make their way into the fictional Upper Bavarian village of Lohfing. At the center of the story is Julius Kraus, a reclusive World War I veteran and shoemaker who actually wants to stay out of politics. Due to a multi-million Dollar inheritance from the U.S. and the revelation of his Jewish ancestry, he is drawn against his will into the political and personal disputes among the villagers, which often end violently in the heated atmosphere of the Weimar era.
