Nina Kern, a young single mother in her mid-twenties, has just lost custody of her three children because of "asocial moral conduct". With the help of her friends, neighbours and colleagues, she tries to sort out her life to get back her children. She is officially supported by two warrantors, an engineer and a female music teacher. But Nina is a fun-loving person. When old friends visit her, she nearly forgets about her good intentions. Furthermore, an unhappy relationship makes her turn to alcohol again. But her warrantor prevents her from giving up. Nina is obviously overwhelmed. Thus, a compromise is made: Nina keeps two of her children, while she gives up her oldest and most difficult daughter for adoption.
