Mir nach, Canaillen!
The comedy is set in Prussia around the year 1730. Lieutenant Freiherr von Lübbenau wants to capture a Hanoverian shepherd and to recruit him for the Prussian Army. But the shepherd is able to overwhelm the lieutenant and to consign him to his superior. To evade punishment, the lieutenant pretends that Alexander is his son. Now, Alexander takes him at his word and wants to survey his inheritance. But when he falls in love with Ulrike, the lieutenant′s daughter, his new status as the lieutenant′s son gets in the way. Several entanglements later, the amorous couple′s only safe way out is to flee back to Hanoverian territory.
