Das Wirtshaus im Spessart

BR Deutschland 1957 Spielfilm

The Spessart Inn

Countess Franziska, her fiancé Baron Sperling, her maid and a pastor are on their way to Würzburg. But in the Spessart hills, the quartet’s carriage suffers an accident. But actually, the accident is staged by a gang of bandits. When Franziska and her companions put up at an inn, the bandits are already waiting for them. They take the countess as hostage to extort ransom money from her father. Dressed in men′s clothing, Franziska manages to escape. But when her father refuses to pay the ransom for the three other hostages and decides to send armed forces to the Spessart inn, the young woman returns to the bandits′ hideout.
