Stephanie Stremler was born in Aachen on March 30, 1977. From 1998 until 2002, she attended the Ernst Busch acting school in Berlin, and during that time, she appeared in Andres Veiel's acclaimed documentary "Die Spielwütigen" (2004).

Following her graduation, she performed at the Kassel Staatsheater, the Deutsche Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin and the Schauspiel in Hannover. In 2004, she was named "Best Actress of the Year" by the trade paper "theater heute".

Apart from her stage work, Stremler occasionally acted in short films and also appeared in supporting roles in feature film productions. In 2011, she had her first leading screen role opposite Susanne Lothar in Hanna Doose's "Staub auf unseren Herzen" ("Dust On Our Hearts"). The film premiered at the 2012 Munich Film Festival, where Stremler was also nominated as Best Actress in the section Neues Deutsches Kino.

In 2014, she played a leading role in "Terminator 2" at the Schauspiel Hannover, a production of the Berlin Puppentheater "Helmi" that combined puppetry and live actors. In the years that followed, Stremler focused more and more on her work in front of the camera. On television, she played leading roles in episodes of various series such as "Der Tatortreiniger" (2015), "Dr. Klein" (2018) and "SOKO Stuttgart" (2020). On the big screen, she was part of the ensemble cast in the drama "The Cakemaker" (DE/IL 2017) and the children's film "Invisible Sue - Plötzlich unsichtbar" ("Invisible Sue", DE/LU 2018).

Stremler took a leading role in "Johnny & Me - Eine Zeitreise mit John Heartfield" ("Johnny & Me - A Journey through Time with John Heartfield" DE/AT/CH 2023), a documentary with live-action scenes. In the film, she portrays a graphic artist who embarks on a magical journey through the life of the influential graphic designer and artist John Heartfield (1891-1968). The film was screened at several international festivals and was theatrically released in January 2024.
