Biography

Jasmin Shakeri was born in 1979 in West Berlin to an Iranian father and a German mother. At 16, she began working as a background singer for artists such as Jan Delay and Yvonne Catterfeld. After three years, she started writing her own songs. In 2009, Shakeri, who had studied Romance languages in the meantime, presented her debut album "Perserkatze" to the press. The album, which featured an opening monologue by Ben Becker, received positive reviews. However, Shakeri withdrew the album at the last minute, stating, "I realized that I no longer stand behind this music or my self-presentation."

In the following years, she focused on songwriting for artists like Andreas Bourani and Joy Denalane. Shakeri made her acting debut with a minor role in the comedy "Hey Bunny" (2016), for which she primarily composed the music.

She also worked as a composer for David Gruschka's TV film "Wir sind die Rosinskis" (2016). After a supporting role in Züli Aladag’s TV miniseries "Brüder" ("Brothers", 2017), Shakeri moved to Los Angeles, where she attended the Ivana Chubbuck Acting Studio from October 2017 to April 2018. Upon returning to Germany, she had a supporting role in Sherry Hormann’s "Vermisst in Berlin" ("Missing in Berlin", 2018) and composed the music for Hormann’s award-winning feature film "Nur eine Frau" ("A Regular Woman", 2019) and her TV movie "Altes Land" ("Old Country", 2020).

Shakeri then shifted her focus primarily to acting. In 2020, she secured a lead role in the dramedy series "Deadlines", which follows the lives of four very different friends in the Frankfurt area. She also played a lead role as the best friend of the protagonist in Karoline Herfurth’s "Einfach mal was Schönes" (2022) and took on smaller parts in the fantasy film "The Magic Flute – Das Vermächtnis der Zauberflöte" (DE/US 2022), the tragicomedy about small-time criminals "Buba" (2022), and the comedies "Ein Fest fürs Leben" (2023) and "Chantal im Märchenland" (2024).

In November 2024, the third season of "Deadlines" premiered, and in January 2025, Shakeri appeared in the main ensemble of the tragicomedy "Feste & Freunde – Ein Hoch auf uns!".
