Summary

Impatience of the Heart

The young soldier Isaac is enjoying a night off with his comrades at the bowling alley. The atmosphere is lively, and at the bar he meets Ilona, who immediately catches his eye. Her sister Edith, by contrast, sits at the table with a sour expression. Hoping to win Ilona’s attention, Isaac begins flirting with Edith. When he asks her to bowl a few rounds and playfully pulls her off the bench, she collapses limply to the floor. Only then does he notice her wheelchair parked nearby. Isaac tries to explain the misunderstanding, but the evening ends in a scuffle. The next morning, ashamed of the incident, he is determined to change the impression the sisters have of him. Soon, an unexpected friendship forms between him and Edith. Yet, fueled by her growing distrust and his obsession with "healing" her, a frenzied spiral takes hold—one that threatens to drag everyone into misfortune.
