Summary

Achternbusch′s "best movie... a revolt against the cinema" (Helmut Schödel) tells the story of a writer who fails to sell his screenplays and plays. Thus, he marries a TV editor. But she only wants to sleep with him and does not care for his works. Then, he remembers Rita, a former lover from Paris and decides to call himself Rita, too, and to become a woman. When a French director stages one of his plays, he meets the real Rita in Paris and they both become a happy couple.
