One or the Other
Kolczyk: upper middle class, university professor, politically “safe”. Ziegenhals: brought up in the gutter, freaked-out student, socially an individualist.
Ziegenhals accidentally comes upon a doubtful incident in Kolczyk’s past, it seems the professor has built up his career on the basis of someone else’s scientific discoveries and has plagiarized his doctoral thesis. Ziegenhals blackmails Kolczyk who pays up so long as he feels he can deliver what Ziegenhals demands. Then Kolczyk counterattacks. The Professor and his student have become deadly enemies.
