Die Häupter meiner Lieben

Deutschland 1998/1999 Spielfilm

Summary

The Heads of My Loved Ones

Based on the novel of the same name by Ingrid Noll. Maja and Cora have been friends since childhood. Grown up, they both get married expecting paradise on earth. Cora marries a rich man called Hennig who is really only interested in one thing.

Maja meets Jonas who seems a personification of freedom to her. Unfortunately, though, she is wrong. Finally, Maja flees to Italy with her baby-son to stay with Cora and Hennig. However, Hennig now decides that he wants a child, too, and feels justified in pestering Cora night after night. Faced with so much gross masculinity, Maja and Cora feel rather helpless at first. One day the two men have drunk themselves unconscious, and Maja and Cora decide to make the best out of this situation: if they murdered the two now, it would look as if they had killed each other. No sooner said than done. And so life is wonderful again: especially since Cora inherits Hennig's money. One day, however, a man called Don comes into Maja's and Cora's life. He turns out to be a danger for their friendship and a risk for their little secret. Consequently, Don drops dead at the table one day. Maja and Cora clear away Don′s body and life seems to be back to normal again, until Mario emerges ...
