Der Herr auf Bestellung
The Darling of Vienna
The eloquent Carry Clips hires himself out as a 'Festredner', a person who makes speeches at important events like marriages etc. for people who don't feel able to do it themselves. His assistant Lillebil is in love with him, but Carry is a confirmed bachelor. One day, Professor Wielander, who has a severe speech impediment, asks Carry to secrectly lend him his voice at a lecture for the "Modern Club". The subject is the nature of marriage. During the lecture, Baroness von Lindenwörth falls in love with the professor, but mainly because of his supposed voice. Lateron, Carry is also supposed to stand in for Wielander at a private meeting and make a declaration of love to the Baroness. On this occasion, Carry himself takes a liking to the Baroness and gets into a heated argument with the Professor, who regains his speech in his excitement. This allows him to impress his beloved, while Carry returns to Lillebil in remorse and finally proposes to her.
