Resi had planned to break up with her boyfriend Michi — but his sudden cancer diagnosis changes everything. She stays by his side until his death and decides to fulfill his last wish: to scatter his ashes on a mountain. Together with three close friends, she sets off for the Alps. But a tragic accident turns the journey deadly. Instead of reaching the afterlife, the four find themselves in a Kafkaesque bureaucracy for the deceased — the South Germany Branch III/2, a sort of bureaucratic purgatory where they must deal with waiting tickets, endless forms, and exasperated clerks. From Elysium to Purgatory to Rebirth, anything seems possible. The catch, however, is that none of them has ever believed in anything, and suddenly the central question arises: What happens to people with no convictions at all?
