Anatole Taubman was born in Zurich on December 23 1971. After graduating from high school, he moved to the US and studied at the renowned acting school of the "Circle in the Square" theatre. After returning to Europe, he performed at several theatres in Switzerland. He made his screen debut in a supporting role in Egon Günther"s period piece" Die Braut". Following starring roles in the drama "Be Angeled" (2001) and the B-movie "Mask Under Mask", and appearances in high-profile productions "Equilibrium" (2002) and "Luther" (2003), he gained significant popularity with his turn in Dominique de Rivaz" "Mein Name ist Bach": For his portrayal of Johann Sebastian Bach"s second son, he was nominated as Best Supporting Actor at the Swiss Film Awards.

Taubman was one of the leads in the award-winning "Marmorera" (2007), a ghost story about a psychiatrist who gradually slips into madness. He regularly appeared in international productions: He played an Albanian gangster in the French thriller "96 Hours" (2008), a French hangman in the US cable series "The Tudors" (2008), and a Serbian war criminal in British miniseries "Waking the Dead" (2008).

Prominent supporting roles include a turn as a henchman of Bond"s nemesis Chiffre in "A Quantum of Solace" (2008), the part of Anastasius in Sönke Wortmann"s "Die Päpstin" (2009) and his portrayal of Coco Chanel"s first love in "Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky" (2009).
