Frantz

A small German town, shortly after the end of WWI. Young Frantz fell as a soldier in France, and his empty grave is visited every day by his fiancée Anna. One day, a mysterious stranger arrives in town and places flowers on Frantz' grave: As it turns out, he is a French veteran named Adrien, and while his mere presence outrages most of the town folk, Anna feels drawn to him. Eventually she learns of the tragic bond which ties Adrien to her late fiancée.
