Girl on Ice
In the middle of winter, 20-year-old Winja from Frankfurt/Oder travels to snowy Northern Russia in order to surprise her boyfriend Andrei. Yet when she finally meets him in a remote sport resort near the Polar Circle, she learns that Andrei eventually is a married man with a child. The devastated Winja is comforted by hotel guest Starych, a wealthy, 70-year-old oligarch. Starych apparently wants to shoot a short film about the environmental hazards in the area, and takes the lovesick girl under his wings. Yet soon it becomes apparent that the eccentric old man resorts to questionable methods when it comes to helping Winja to find love and happiness.
