Biography

Thomas Heinemann started his career at the theatre. In 1985, he started Theater am Neunerplatz in Würzburg and conducted the theatre"s affairs until 2000. During that time, Heinemann wrote more than 40 plays in all different genres – including comedy, classical drama, and even children"s and youth theatre. In addition, he also directed numerous classic plays such as "Lord of the Flies", "Pünktchen und Anton", or Schiller"s "Turandot".

In 1988, Heinemann started his career in the film and TV business with the screen play to the episode "Mein Bruder" for the ZDF TV series "Wenn Du mich fragst". But he did not do any more TV or film work until he left Theater am Neunerplatz in 2000. He then developed the screen plays for Simon Verhoeven"s film "100 Pro" and for Dito Tsintsadze"s film "Schussangst" ("Gun-Shy"). For "Schussangst", Heinemann also worked as dialogue director. In 2007, Heinemann made his debut as a film director with the comedy "Vorne ist verdammt weit weg", that features his longtime theatre fellow Frank-Markus Barwasser in the leading role.
