Sabrina Amali

Biography

Sabrina Amali was born in 1992 in Basel to a Moroccan mother and a Swiss father. She gained her first stage experience through youth theatre projects and made her screen debut with a small appearance as a "Gypsy woman" in the television crime drama "Das Paar im Kahn" (Switzerland, 2004). In 2008, she appeared in the Swiss reality TV miniseries "Euro-WG." Further minor film roles followed in the horror comedy "Das Missen Massaker" ("The Swiss Miss Massacre," 2012) and Oliver Rihs's military comedy "Achtung, fertig, WK!" ("Ready, Steady, Ommm!" 2013), at that time still credited under her former stage name, Sabrina Meier. 

From 2013 to 2016, Amali trained at the Schauspielschule Charlottenburg in Berlin, followed by an engagement at the Salzburger Landestheater during the 2016/17 season. She then shifted her focus primarily to screen work. She appeared in supporting roles in productions such as Züli Aladag's miniseries "Brüder" and the "Tatort" crime drama "Alles was Sie sagen" (2018). In the second and third seasons of the hit gangster series "4 Blocks" (2018/2019), she became part of the main cast, playing the niece of a Berlin clan leader. 

On the big screen, Amali took on leading roles as a violinist in the Middle East–set drama "CRESCENDO #makemusicnotwar" (2019) and as an Arab acting student in the satirical social comedy "Julia muss sterben." In Doris Dörrie's social satire "Freibad" ("The Pool," 2022), she appeared as part of a group of strictly Muslim women whose burkinis cause public controversy. 

Above all, however, Amali has been a familiar presence on television. Her leading roles include a cold-blooded military spy in "Harter Brocken - Das Überlebenstraining" (2022), a single mother in the romantic drama "Ein Zimmer für Papa" (2023), and an investigator in the second season of the crime series "Die Toten von Marnow" ("Marnow Murders," 2024). From 2024 onward, she took on the title role in the medical drama series "Die Notärztin." 

Amali also played another leading cinema role in Nancy Biniadaki's drama "Maysoon," which centers on an Egyptian archaeologist living in Berlin whose life begins to unravel on multiple levels. At the Thessaloniki Film Festival 2025, Amali was awarded Best Actress for her performance.
