Biography

Maj-Britt Klenke, born in Berlin in 1992, studied acting at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich from 2013 to 2017. In 2015 she received a scholarship from the Deutscher Bühnenverein (German Stage Association). During her studies she had guest engagements at the Munich Kammerspiele and the Munich Volkstheater, among others. After graduation she started working as a freelance actress. She was a founding member of the collective 'Berlin Offenbacher Freundschaft' and since 2018 has been a member of the ensemble of the non-profit theatre cooperative 'Traumschüff' in Berlin. She has also appeared on stage at the Mozarteum Salzburg and at the Festival of Young Talents 2018 in Frankfurt, among others.

From 2016 Klenke also has been acting in short and medium-length films. She then made her feature film debut with the leading role in "Das freiwillige Jahr" ("A Voluntary Year", 2019), directed by Henner Winckler and Ulrich Köhler. In it she played a high school graduate from the province who has to emancipate herself from the future wishes of her single father. The film celebrated its premiere at the International Film Festival in Locarno (Switzerland); at the Hamburg Film Festival it won the producer's prize. In February 2020 "Das freiwillige Jahr" was released in German cinemas.
