Biography

Lea Drinda, born in Jena in 2001, first appeared in front of the camera in 2017 for Anna Roller's 30-minute student short film "Die letzten Kinder im Paradies", playing the lead role of a young girl suddenly left alone in a country house with her little brother. Following this, she was cast in episodes of the TV series "Die Pfefferkörner" and "Letzte Spur Berlin".

In 2019, Drinda played her first leading role in the series "Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo" ("We Children from Bahnhof Zoo") as an upper-class teenager in Berlin's club and drug scene. While filming, she also finished high school. The series premiered on Amazon Prime in early 2021 and saw Drinda nominated for the German Acting Award for Best Newcomer.

She was subsequently seen in leading roles in the KiKa miniseries "Mysterium" (2021), about a clique of friends who get caught up in a parallel world, and as a criminal youth in the "Stralsund" episode "Wilde Hunde" (2021). A great success was Drinda's portrayal of the leading role in the series "Becoming Charlie" (2022), about a young person's search for identity, who feels neither woman nor man. For this role, she was awarded the Hessian Television Prize, the German Television Prize and a prize from the German Academy of Television and Film (DAfF).

Also in 2022, the feature film "Alle wollen geliebt werden" ("Everybody Wants To Be Loved"), in which Drinda played a leading role as the daughter of the main character, premiered at the Munich Film Festival. The film was theatrically released in March 2023.
