Biography

Langston Uibel was born in London on February 4, 1998 to British-German parents and has been living in Berlin since 2006. He made his debut in front of the camera in 2007 with a small part in the action film "Speed Racer"; the following year he appeared in Alexander Frank's short film "The String Puppet", which was shown at the Berlinale Talents, as a child soldier in an unnamed developing country who is distracted from shooting two Western soldiers by a puppet show.

In the following years, he appeared in several short films, as well as a supporting role as a boarding school student in "Hanni & Nanni 3" in 2012, before his first bigger role in "Freistatt" ("Sanctuary", 2015), an award-winning drama about the cruel conditions in church-run reformatories in the 1960s. In February 2016, he appeared on stage at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in "Lord of the Flies: Survival Mode"; three years earlier, he appeared there in "Der Ring: Next Generation," a production for young people.

He had another big movie role in the comedy "High Society" (2017), as the son of a family in precarious circumstances, whose sister was swapped at birth with a rich child. In the streaming series "Dogs of Berlin" (2018), he portrayed a German national soccer player confronted by the mafia. In 2020/21, he appeared in supporting roles in the Netflix productions "Isi & Ossi", "Unorthodox" and the third season of "How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)".

Langston Uibel played a leading role in Christian Petzold's friendship and relationship drama "Roter Himmel" ("Afire"), which premiered in competition at the Berlinale in 2023 and opened in theaters in April 2023.
