Biography

Farba Dieng, born in 1993 in Lille, France, grew up in France and near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He had his first film and TV roles in the short film "Morgen" by Karl Neubart (2019), in Moritz Bleibtreu's directorial debut "Cortex" (2020) and in the series "Skylines" (Netflix, 2019), "Pastewka" and "Breaking Even" (both 2020).

In 2021, he appeared in a supporting role in Katja von Garnier's dance film "Fly," and Florian Dietrich's film "Toubab," which was already filmed in 2018, was also released: in it, Farba Dieng plays the lead role of Babtou, a Senegalese man who is threatened with deportation from Germany and therefore wants to marry his best friend (Julius Nitschkoff). The film and Dieng's performance in particular were highly praised by critics and won several awards. Together with his co-star Nitschkoff, Farba Dieng received the Performer Award at the Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Bavarian Film Award 2021 for Best Newcomer. At the First Steps Awards, Dieng was nominated for the Götz George Young Actor Award.

Further roles in TV series such as "Das Netz," "Ein starkes Team" and "Disko Bochum" followed, as well as a supporting role in Alain Gsponer's "Wolke unterm Dach" (2022).

In 2022, Farba Dieng received a nomination for Best Leading Actor at the German Film Awards for "Toubab".
