Biography

Eberhard Kirchberg, born in Leipzig, attended vocal training at Leipzig"s Thomanerchor and subsequently studied acting, also in Leipzig. Since that time, he has worked as an actor at several theatres. During his acting career, Kirchberg worked with directors such as Gerhard Meyer and Wolfgang Heinz. Since 1989, he appeared regularly at theater89, at Kleist Theater Frankfurt/Oder, and at Volkstheater Rostock.

In 1976, Kirchberg made his movie debut in the World War II drama "Mama, ich lebe" ("Mama, I"m Alive"), directed by Konrad Wolf. Although Kirchberg brought his extraordinary presence to the screen, he – until today – mainly focused on his work at the theatre and only sporadically appeared in film or TV productions. After playing minor roles in successful films such as "Good Bye Lenin!", Kirchberg finally returned to the big screen in a leading role in 2008. In the melancholic relationship story "AlleAlle", directed by Pepe Planitzer, Kirchberg played a mentally handicapped nursing home resident.
