Unterwegs nach Atlantis

DDR 1976/1977 Spielfilm

Summary

At the end of the 19th century, German archaeologist Professor Bohmann is searching for the remains of the legendary island Atlantis. But he is not the only one who is trailing the myth. His adversary, the British scientist Sir Grey claims to have already found Atlantis. In different masks and guises, he sets cunning traps to keep off his adversary from finding Atlantis. Furthermore, Bohmann is drawn between the battle lines of the Greco-Turkish war. Thus, his journey turns into a dangerous adventure. After narrowly escaping death several times, he finally reaches an island that is said to be Atlantis on board of a fisher boat. But the fisher man himself turns out to be Grey. He reveals to Bohmann that he had made up his story about Atlantis und asks his rival to keep quiet about this. But the upright scientist stays faithfully to the truth. He flees the island and leaves Grey behind.
