Summary
Oscar Restrepo is a poet in his fifties who, despite an early literary award, never established a professional career and has turned to alcohol. Without an independent income, he returns to live with his ailing mother until his family urges him to take a teaching position. In his classroom, he meets 15-year-old Yurlady, whose writing talent he immediately recognizes. She grows up under difficult circumstances, and Oscar is determined to help her give her first public performances. Yet his dedication does not come without consequences: in the literary scene, he clashes with established colleagues, and Yurlady's family and social circle increasingly view his efforts with suspicion.
