Summary

The documentary portrays Russian artist Ilya Kabakov, born in 1933, who is a renowned representative of Moscow Conceptualism. Raised in the Soviet Stalin under Stalin′s rule, he witnessed the historic development till the Gorbachev administration. In the 1908s, he left the country and since then resides in New York with his long-time love Emilia. In his numerous works, Kabakov comments on the traumatic experiences of poverty and repression under Soviet communist rule – but also reflects upon the absurdities in the Western World.
