Biography

Juliane Maria Lorenz was born August 2nd, 1957 in Mannheim and began working as Rainer Werner Fassbinder's editor in 1977 until his death in 1982 and has since worked with other directors like Werner Schroeter ("Malina"), Josef Roedl ("Der wilde Clown") and Romuald Karmakar ("Das Frankfurter Kreuz"). She became the director of the Rainer Werner Fassbinder Foundation in 1992.

She has been responsible for retrospectives of his work in Berlin (1992), the USA and Canada (1997/1998). She has served as writer-director on the documentary short "Berlinale 1983" and "Life Love & Celluloid" (1997). She also co-scripted Werner Schroeter's 1986 documentary "A La Recherche Du Soleil - Auf der Suche nach der Sonne".
