Rückfälle

Following a withdrawal treatment, it looks like Manfred Burger could actually overcome his dependency on alcohol. Yet soon he must realize that society has no use for a sober alcoholic either. Burger loses his job, the union refuses to help him and the relationship with his wife deteriorates. Burger starts to drink again, while many do not recognize his addiction as the illness that it is. He even seeks help from a therapist, but as soon as he gets drunk, he gets violent and beats his wife. With no hope in sight, the situation increasingly gets out of hand – and finally reaches a tragic solution.
