Jennifer Sabel
Jennifer Sabel, born in 1981, studied acting from 2001 to 2005 at the Bavarian Theatre Academy "August Everding." During this time, she made her on-screen debut with a lead role in Susanne Schneider's TV film "In einer Nacht wie dieser" (2002), about three close friends who falsely accuse a classmate of sexual assault. After completing her studies, Sabel attended the postgraduate "Was ihr wollt" Academy in 2006/07, led by Peter Zadek and Tom Stromberg.
In the following years, Sabel focused primarily on theater, with engagements at the Gostner Hoftheater Nürnberg (2011–2012), the Westfälische Kammerspiele Paderborn (2012–2013), and the Stadttheater Bremerhaven (2013–2016), where she notably played the lead role in a stage adaptation of Fatih Akin's "Gegen die Wand" ("Head-On"). In 2016, she joined the Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin as a permanent ensemble member, portraying roles such as Lucy in "Dracula" (2018) and Roxane in "Cyrano" (2019).
In film, Sabel took the lead in the coming-of-age story "Nicht weit von mir" ("Not Far From Me," 2011) and appeared in several short films. In 2018, she co-founded the production company Wunschkindfilm with Benjamin Kramme. Together, they wrote and directed the short film "Roxy Wunschkind" ("Roxy Love Child," 2018), in which they also played the lead roles. This was followed by further shorts directed by Kramme, including the multi-award-winning "Alternativen" ("Once in Purple Dungarees," 2019) and "Den Rest mach ich morgen" ("What Will You Remember in Fifty Thousand Years?," 2021), which premiered at the Toronto Alternative Film Festival and won the Youth Jury Prize at the 2022 Bamberger Kurzfilmtage.
Despite her film work, Sabel's main focus remained on the stage at the Mecklenburg State Theatre, where she played leading roles such as Conny in "Gundermann" (2020–2023) and Lena in "Leonce und Lena" (2023–2024).
Together with Benjamin Kramme, she co-wrote the screenplay for the feature-length drama "Ich sterbe. Kommst Du?" ("Clouds Are Made of Rain," 2025) – about a terminally ill woman and mother, portrayed by Sabel herself, who forms a special friendship during her time in hospice. Directed once again by Benjamin Kramme, the film received multiple awards, and Sabel won the German Acting Award in the category "Best Dramatic Leading Performance." The theatrical release followed in November 2025.
