Der Schlemihl

Hartwig, a small and unlucky shlemiel, accidentally happens to be in a luxurious restaurant where he is mistaken by a count for a certain Josef Döllinger. Hartwig is more than happy as this incident leads to him meeting the dancer Garda Maro whom Hartwig secretly admires. But then, the count takes him on a ride and steers his car into a tree. When Hartwig wakes up at the hospital, everybody still believes that he is Döllinger. His claim not to be Döllinger is diagnosed as a typical case of amnesia after the accident. Reluctantly, Hartwig is brought to Döllinger′s gorgeous mansion. But then, Garda finds out that Döllinger really is the known impostor Tim Burke. Later, American gangsters show up to take Burke on a jewellery heist.
