Biography

Aaron Altaras was born in Berlin on November 21, 1995, to actress Adriana Altaras and composer Wolfgang Böhmer. At his elementary school, he was discovered by a casting team and cast as the eight-year-old son of the main character in the TV comedy "Mogelpackung Mann" (2004). The following year, he also played the protagonist's son in the TV drama "Wenn der Vater mit dem Sohne" (2005).

The TV film "Nicht alle waren Mörder" ("Not All Were Murderers", 2006, directed by Jo Baier), based on the childhood and youth memories of actor Michael Degen, received much attention. In it, Altaras played the leading role of the young Michael Degen, a German Jew who survived the Nazi era. He was awarded the Grimme Audience Award for this role (together with Jo Baier and actress Nadja Uhl).

In the following years, Altaras had leading roles in other television productions. Among others, he played the son of chief detective Felix Stark (Boris Aljinovic) in the "Tatort" episodes "Tod einer Heuschrecke" (2008) and "Hitchcock und Frau Wernicke" (2010). Raymond Ley cast him for the ensemble of his docudrama "Die Kinder von Blankenese" (2010, TV). He had series guest roles in "Heiter bis tödlich – Hauptstadtrevier" (2014) and "SOKO Stuttgart" (2015), among others.

Aaron Altaras played his first leading role in a feature film production in the drama "Die Unsichtbaren – Wir wollen leben" ("The Invisibles", 2017, based on real events), about four Berlin Jews who have to hide from the Nazis in 1943.

Parallel to his acting work, Altaras completed acting training at Amsterdam University College in Liberal Arts & Sciences from 2013 to 2017. He made his stage debut in 2018 in a free production by the Brandenburg theater company theater.land. Also in 2018, he played a lead role with Max Hubacher in the Swiss feature film "Mario," about two young professional soccer players who fall in love but have to keep their relationship a secret in the macho sport of soccer. The film received very good reviews and several awards.

Maria Schrader cast Altaras in her award-winning series "Unorthodox" (2020) as the debonair Berlin boyfriend of the main character, who has fled to Germany from her family in Brooklyn. In the adventure series "Wild Republic" (2021), he played one of the young delinquents, a martial artist who has to participate in a resocialization program for assault. He had another series lead role as a law firm intern in the lawyer series "Legal Affairs" (2021).

Aaron Altaras played another leading role in the comedy "Einfach mal was Schönes" (2022), as the new love of a woman several years older than him (Karoline Herfurth).
