The Conquest of the Citadel


Bernhard Wicki′s film version of Günter Herburger′s novella tells the story of a writer who travels with his mother to Italy. After the writer′s mother dies in a car accident the young man stays in Italy and keeps afloat with illicit work. Together with three other foreign workers, he constructs a villa at the sea for a newly rich employer. But at the topping-out ceremony that gathers an equally decadent and arrogant group of guests, the whole situation gets out of hand.
