Jasper Billerbeck discovered acting when he answered a casting call at his sailing school in 2023, submitting a self-taped audition he filmed with his mother. Director Fatih Akin cast him in the lead role of "Amrum," a 1945-set feature inspired by the childhood memories of German filmmaker and actor Hark Bohm, known for his long-standing collaborations with Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Akin. The film premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and was released in German cinemas later that year.
