Hans is about to retire from his position as a school principal. As he prepares for this new stage of life, his wife Rita continues to enjoy the quiet routines that have long defined her days. Their son Tom has long since moved out. When a tragic accident occurs—one for which Rita feels responsible - the couple’s seemingly stable marriage begins to falter. Amid everyday changes and resurfacing memories, Hans and Rita are forced to confront questions about their relationship, their family life, and their place within the shared rhythm of their days.
