Karim Düzgün Günes was born on April 25, 1986 in Tunceli, Turkey. When he was four years old, the family moved to Moers, Germany. After graduating from high school, Günes first worked as a model for various fashion labels, including Boss and Replay. His first role as an actor was in the German-Belgian children's series "Das Haus Anubis", in which he appeared from 2009 to 2012 as the sports-mad son of a wealthy family. In 2012, he also appeared in the feature film "Das Haus Anubis - Pfad der 7 Sünden".   

In 2014, he played a recurring role in the daily soap "Unter uns". From 2015 to 2017, he was the son of head doctor Nevon Gül (Renan Demirkan) in the series "Dr Klein". Günes was also seen in several other television productions. In "Krüger aus Almanya" (2014), he had a leading role as the Turkish groom of Krüger's (Horst Krause) granddaughter (Anna Unterberger). In the docudrama "Letzte Ausfahrt Gera - Acht Stunden mit Beate Zschäpe" (2016), he played a police officer. He also appeared in guest roles in various TV series. In 2016, Günes started playing the lead role of SEK officer Karim Uthman in the crime series "Stralsund."  

On the big screen, director Detlev Buck cast him in smaller roles in "Bibi & Tina: Tohuwabohu Total" (2017) and "Wuff - Folge dem Hund" (2018). Günes also had supporting roles in the thriller "Man from Beirut" (2019) with Kida Khodr Ramadan, and in Ramadan's directorial debut, the neighborhood story "In Berlin wächst kein Orangenbaum" (2020). Günes played a leading role in "König der Raben" ("King of Ravens, 2020), as the best friend of an illegal migrant with whom he is also secretly in love.
