Biography

Valentin Postlmayr was born on 2 February 1993 in Wels, Austria. From 2013 to 2017 he studied acting at the Konservatorium Wien (from 2015 at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien). During his studies he appeared on stage in 2015 at the Theater Dschungel Wien in "Love and War" and in 2016 at the Akademietheater in "Coriolan". At the Schauspielhaus Wien he played the title role in the Kohlhaas paraphrase "kolhaaz (wir sind überall)", a production of his university, in April 2017. Postlmayr also played his first television roles during his studies, with guest roles in the series "SOKO Donau" (AT 2015), "CopStories" (AT 2015) and "SOKO Kitzbühel" (AT 2017), as well as in the two-parter "Das Sacher - In bester Gesellschaft" (AT 2016). He had a small appearance on the big screen in Barbara Albert's "Licht" ("Mademoiselle Paradis", AT/DE 2017).   

After graduating, Postlmayr played the valet Johann in the Nestroy farce "Höllenangst" at the Vienna Volkstheater in autumn 2017. In 2018/19 he appeared in Vienna in productions at the Akademietheater, the Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz and the Vestibül of the Burgtheater. In the 2019/20 season he played Brunhild in the Nibelungen at the Landestheater Niederösterreich. At the Perchtoldsdorf Summer Festival in 2020 he played Romeo in "Romeo and Juliet".  

On television, he had a recurring supporting role as an art student in the eight-part series "Letzter Wille" (AT 2020), about the cases of an inheritance investigator.    

Valentin Postlmayr played his first leading role on the big screen under the direction of Dieter Berner in "Alma & Oskar" (AT/CH/DE/CZ 2022), a historical drama about the relationship between the artist Alma Mahler (Emily Cox) and the artist Oskar Kokoschka (Postlmayr). The film was released in summer 2023.   

Earlier, in the spring of 2023, he was seen in the Vienna "Tatort" episode "Was ist das für eine Welt" (2023) in the lead role of a multiple murderer. Also starting in 2023 is the adaptation of the novel "Jakobs Ross" (LU/CH), in which Postlmayr plays the leading role of a young farmhand in 19th century Switzerland who dreams of social advancement.
