Biography

Hans-Joachim Brucherseifer was born in Leipzig on June 23, 1995. As a high school student, he began visualizing scientific facts in 3D as part of student projects and was able to present the results in 2012, 2013 and 2014 at the National Conferences of the Technology Student Association in the USA; in 2014, he was awarded the Gold Achievement Award. In this context, he also participated in the production of a short film for the first time.

In 2014, Brucherseifer began studying Motion Pictures at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, where he began by focusing on visual image design and working with the camera. By his own admission, his interest in dramaturgy and acting came later. While still a student, he began working for various production companies and was involved in the production of commercials and image films (including Samsung and TV broadcaster Pro7). During his studies he realized the medium-length reportage "Classic for Peace" (2015) and the short film "Twinship" (2017). In addition, he was involved as a cameraman in film and series projects of fellow students.

In 2017, before graduating, Brucherseifer joined forces with the Darmstadt-based Fourmat Film GmbH, whose team he already knew from his studies and freelance projects, to realize his first feature-length film: "The Expert at the Card Table - Looking for Erdnase", a documentary with acted scenes about the mysterious author of a world-famous card trick book. He continued to push this project after his graduation in 2018. The film finally opened in theaters in April 2022. Parallel to this project, Brucherseifer founded a GbR for visual marketing and advertising film production together with photographer Sebastian Worm in 2020.
