Summary
Widower Georg Weiser takes his camper on a trip through Greece, invited to a quirky family gathering where his children plan to honor their late mother on the anniversary of her death—the same place where the family once spent their holidays. Having previously seen his wife's passing as a "liberation" and denied his own role in the marriage's failure, Georg is forced to confront his past—helped, surprisingly, by Socrates, who literally steps in front of his car in Crete to offer some essential life wisdom.
Meanwhile, Georg's daughter Susanne and son Gerd become entangled in the lives of a local Greek family. As the chaos unfolds, the family comes together in a heartfelt farewell ritual, and Georg may finally discover what it means to be a happy widower.
